There are lots of Utube vids with comments and reviews on the parts that comprise these bikes-you won't like what they say. But if it's all about looking good, go for it. If you can do your own tuning and repairs, so much the better. Good luck, and I don't mean that in a snarky way. You might actually get on with the bike and at least your son likes it already which is a plus.
I feel I should add-quality used bikes will give you much more bang for your buck-the key word here being 'quality'.
