I haven't found these bikes to be harsh either. Firm? Yes. Fast? Yup. Great steer'ers? You bet.

Thanks! I believe the components are mostly original. Or at least they're consistent with what they showed in the 1985 catalog. Mine has Superbe Pro crankset, Cinelli bars and stem, Dia Compe AGC-250 brakes. The catalog says derailleurs and shifters should be Cyclone, though mine are alpha-5000. Even though the derailleurs don't match the catalog, I suspect they're original to the bike.
