We had 4 bad crashes last fall. One poor guy looked like he had a younger rider just ride up into him when the two of them were going around a turn together (the pack was away from them). The younger rider was fine, the older one had broken ribs, collar bone, and went away in an ambulance. Being Detroit, his car had been stolen when someone went back to get it the next day.

I crashed and burned too (after crossing the friggen finish line). Oddly it didn't hurt much, but I had broken ribs and punctured lungs, so I got a trip to the ER the next day (Oddly, I was a celebrity with the nurses who only vaguely knew what a velodrome was, and wondered why I was riding my bike when there was snow on the ground (Lexus is indoors)).
