I preferred SPD shoes/cleats when I was younger, but now I prefer the simplicity of platform pedals with standard footwear. While cleats are supposedly more efficient, the difference seems pretty minor and they are significantly less comfortable for walking. I love that I can park my bike, go for a long walk or hike and not have to change footwear. I'm curious what others think.
