So get a threadless riser stem and pop it on top of your adapter. You can find many 1 1/8" threadless mountain bike stems from the 90s - 00s in lengths from 80mm - 150mm and with up to about a 30 deg. rise. I think I have three of them in my basement and regularly swap around to really figure the right fit when I change a handlebar or saddle.
