I was thinking the same thing about either using a small car battery that you can buy at Costco or
Walmart or a motorcycle gel cell.

Someone said that these batteries need to be at or near 100% all the time.

These batteries are cheap so I am actually of thinking of trying them on my eZip: 24volts.
I would tie the batteries in series. Probably a $100 experiment.
