The huge benefit to using tubulars over clinchers, and the only reason in my book really these days, is the comfort and feel factor. No excellent clincher comes even close. Anything else is just a mute point really. So, taking out the tubulars for a race only is completely impractical and moronic to me personally. Then again, this is like the guy that slaves himself to a car payment he can barely make just to have a car he takes out on sunny sundays. Moronic again.

This is coming from someone that has been riding tubulars exclusively for many years!
