They're pretty rare. I count myself lucky to have seen one, spotted on a gravel road climbing to the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was ahead of me and I did not catch him.
really .. I took a picture of one the other week on a gravel ride... he ran across the trail and just sat there in the shade of a tree. I was probably about 30 yards from him.
