Emphatically: yes!
In tracing lineage of a true Team bike (
any team), clear and concise communication is key. It probably didn't help that you came off as a know-it-all, and - let's face it - a bit of a bully yourself. After reading your messages to the seller, I can clearly see why he didn't put much stock in the information you provided. Were I the seller, I'd have simply stopped listening to you - no matter your qualifications or access to Team bike information - because of your abrasiveness.
It's obvious the seller was confused by your terminology, but you simply labeled his confusion as lying and then began calling him out. Not a good look. No wonder he ceased communication with you.
