For small engines I gave up and use the canned gas at Home Depot. It's expensive but it's ethanol free and is loaded with dry gas, etc to help make sure it stays runnable and doesn't gum anything up. I switch the mower over to it late in the fall. Smaller stuff - I just use it all the time.
