It seemed pretty fast to me (watching). He was certainly struggling and lots of predictable reasons for that.
Things are different now and he pays his entry so if a DNF and/or sufferings at the back are OK with him, I'm not [very] bothered by it. It was a reason to ride the motorcycle over Ortega Hwy two days for me and watch some bike racing which, I kinda like.
