The shell protects your head from road rash after the foam has broken. I have a "traditional" Fuji brand helmet that is very light & fits my head very well. I hope I never go down in traffic with that one. I use it on super hot days. The nutcase I have is used on days when less air cooling of head is desired. That said, I've used my nutcase (present & previous) on 95-103 degree days. While yes more ventilation on hot days is nice, I will take protection over cooling every time (and have).

Would love one of the metroride helmets.
