Whelp, this happened...
After reading through the thread and comments (thank you everyone) I felt that purchasing the 1030+ was worthwhile. The savings are pretty good, I do not think (fingers crossed) I will miss the new features of the 540/1040, and the 1030+ is a good bike computer. So with all that in mind, I took the plunge on the 1030+.
Here's hoping I made the right call.
