I put oil on my chain, spun it around, and wiped off the excess. Don’t really think that was “twenty times the effort” compared to doing what you do. Also didn’t have to take my chain off. I also didn’t need to buy any more kitchen appliances. Your last question is silly considering wax is a “lube.”
