We were driving in West section of Zion National Park and my friend suddenly hit the brake. This humongous TARANTULA was out on the road and large enough to be a visible obstacle. We stopped and having never seen on in the wild walked toward it and were approaching it. Another driver warned "They can jump!" And we did - back to the car, quick!

Although I just looked and apparently they don't jump that far or high and only certain sub-species.
