I use a phosphate solution (Navel Jelly) to reduce rust during the process. A good painter will use much the same after prepping the bare frame for paint and some primers contain a rust reducing phosphate component.

Thanks for the tip on the painting, Andy! I hadn't given it much thought yet. I will probably send it through the ultrasonic again before paint and keep it clean after that.
