I just want to use 8 speed -9 speed cassettes with it and to save my classic derailleur for thematic rides.
It seems that I don't have enough cable to pull for 1 more cog on back - I can do it by hand pulling cable and all mechanically working fine.
Shifting into the largest cog probably won’t work because as soon you release tension on the cable it will likely shift back to the smaller cog.
