do it now, I mean make your plans now. the end of June/beg. of July is the best weather in New England & usually before the sharks show up

or whenever ... we like it (& the cape) year 'round. had friends w/ a little cabin in the woods, w/ a fireplace. we'd go for new year's & cross country ski. never went out for meals, so it didn't matter that so many places were closed. they got divorced & sold the property so winter visits to the island are more rare for us now
