Oh, I know that to be true (now!) I never considered adjusting the tension screw because of what I've heard and read from "everyone". My point is that there may be some reasons to tighten it. I've had/have maybe a dozen leather saddles, and two of them clearly needed to be tightened. If you're buying a used saddle, and it's a bit loose, maybe all it needs is to be tightened a bit. If you can pick up a used saddle for cheap, it might make it worth your while.
