Yesterday my would-be riding partner on a planned ride had to cancel at the last minute. Having spent the morning contemplating the fact that I had planned a route with more climbing than I wanted to do, I needed some motivation to get out of the house. After a few minutes of thinking about it, I came up with a new route that had built-in motivation at the turn around point, The People's Pig in Portland.
I don't know if it was the delicious porchetta sandwich or just the beautiful weather, but on the way back to Beaverton I found myself appreciating much of the beauty of Portland that I've mostly come to take for granted.

Whatever this is
The Burnside Bridge and a bit of Waterfront Park

A good friend of mine has been hospitalized at OHSU for the past three weeks following a terrible bike accident, so this was a particularly somber moment for me.
I feel like the sign here was overkill.
