So, should I carry a backup Gates Belt?

I can't imagine how I would recover, if the belt broke. Do Gates belts ever fail?

thanks
Not the Center Track version. We've had ours on for over 10,000 miles. It and the rings show a little wear but still works fine. I doubt a rider would be strong enough to break a carbon fiber belt. We carried what you say on tour, plus 4 tubes and a patch kit. Our previous belt, before Center Track came out, wore the rings so that it wouldn't stay centered by itself anymore.
