Of course. Once one does decide to buy a GRX crank, one might as well first try it with one's existing road FD. My point was that Shimano's own published information may deter one from trying a GRX crankset with an otherwise road drivetrain to achieve lower gearing to begin with as
CAT7RDR's LBS did.
