Weaver told troopers investigating the crash that he was blind in one eye and had impaired vision in the other, according to a crash report.
For what it is worth I used to go to that part of the world for my work. Those Farm to Market roads are NOT "twistie" or even close. I did a "Google Maps tour" of the whole thing and I don't believe I found a single "blind" corner. The driver was blind and he was still driving.
I get it. It is a rural area and there is no easy way to get around for a 66 year old (young fella about my age), so he drives a car. We had an old guy in the small town I grew up in who couldn't see well enough to drive and he drove a tractor on those rural roads.
Oh, by the way, this is a blind corner on a road with log trucks. This stretch of road was very popular with bicyclists. We had miles of this kind of road and we never had a bicycle / motor vehicle collision.
