This a great idea for those of us who love to tinker almost more than we ride! Oops did I give myself away?

Anyway a question on the above statement. I take it that items I have as left overs in my parts bin are not allowed onto the bike with out adding to the cost of the project? That is, if I add a seat I have laying around, I have to add fair market value of that seat to the overall cost of the clunker?

So in theory, one could barter one's project up to higher level so long as only $108 was originally spent?

This is definitely a challenge in my neck of the woods where seemingly worthless bikes go for way too much.... But that is what a challenge it is, is it not?
