Go for broke. Negotiate with Mrs. Bam. Once it is a done deal at home, get some carbon wheels with DTSwiss 240 hubs from LightBicycle or another Chinese vendor. Get the Schnitz brake track if you need rim brakes.

Mine have Carbon Ti hubs and the price was not much more than high end aluminum.

And I use Campagnolo carbon brake pads and the LB wheels stop about the same as Rolf aluminum with regular Campagnolo brake pads.

The one down side to the LB wheels was when I blew a tire right at the start of a group ride, when I ran with a borrowed Al wheel the brakes were very bad... Al wheel with Campagnolo carbon brakes.
