Years ago I was in Northern California and a bald-face hornet flew up the back of my shorts and stung me on the ass. It was by far the most painful insect bite I ever had. My friend told me they were considered the most painful bite in North America. I wouldn't dispute that. It hurt so bad it was ridiculous.
