A not recommended example of how I occasionally carry two sacks of groceries home using two heavy cloth reusable sacks tied up high and double knotted at the handlebar. The cloth bag handle usually unties pretty easily.
Balancing the load is important. Like I say not recommended but in a pinch it got me the 3 .5 miles home going slower than regular riding speeds and also riding very carefully.
I just don't want to ride my basketed
'grocery getter' bike some days but still need to pick up a few items.
