My across-the-hall neighbor in Brooklyn also liked to do a fair amount of cooking. He was of the belief that a kitchen should be as clean, or cleaner, after finishing cooking a meal. I'm pretty much the same, though I'll let a pan or two soak while eating and then clean them afterwards.

Ha. Along those lines, one of my goals this year is to spend enough time that I have a similar familiarity, workflow, and persnickety approach in the woodworking shop.
