One of the ACA trips I did, one person kept having flats, I think he used a dollar bill on four occasions. But I kept telling him that you pay for what you get, should be using a ten, but he kept using ones and kept having flats.
I have some tyvek from USPS envelopes cut up into rectangles and there is one or two packed with each of my spare tubes. Never needed one yet, but some day I might. I often do not carry any currency with me when I go out for a ride.
