It would strange for me to have corn that was not sweet. The default corn sold at supermarkets, green grocers or grown at home are varieties of sweet corn, often Honey & Pearl. I think you can now get some obscure or heritage varieties as seed to grow from specialist seed merchants that aren't sweet.
Those heritage varieties are the best there is. At the time they were sweet. Then the monsantos got ahold of them.
