I suspect a pair of allen wrenches in a vise would serve as the DFB tool replacement, but the tool doesn’t cost much and works very well. I like to support manufacturers who make custom tools available at a reasonable price.
Because the tool wasn’t available I ended up clamping two thick steel shims in a vise and cutting them down a bit to fit in the freewheel slots. This was my second attempt at a tool after I sheared the tabs off of an aluminum version. As with you, the first one came too fairly easily. The second was a lot more of a fight. I’ll gladly buy Todd’s tool if it becomes available soon (might have to call Monday) and if not it’ll be time to visit a machine shop and make a few.
