Took the Surly Trucker DeLuxe out Wednesday morning on a little 8-mile ride up the East side of the Mystic Lakes on the Mystic Valley Parkway, then back on the somewhat hillier terrain immediately to the East of that, taking Grove Street down to High Street, skirting the Brooks Estate in the process, and then crossing the Mystic River to get home again.
I rode into the beach area on the Upper Mystic Lake, and followed the trail to the site of the Old Middlesex Canal aqueduct, that took the Canal across the Aberjona River or Upper Mystic Lake, depending on how that was reckoned at the time.
The Grove Street section of the ride was pleasant, not least for these lawn flamingos who had been outfitted with face masks.
