Also folks should lookup the term “running economy”. Noobs burn tons running as they usually run in too fast of a training zone and also have poor form contributing to poor run economy. Meaning more energy usage.

Seasoned runners have good form and train more base miles. So good economy plus easier pace lessens the gap to bikes a bit.
