When I was commuting, 2.5 miles each way was my normal distance. I've been impressed with my Trek FX commuter bike, which I've used for 10 miles round trip (5 miles each way) for an entire winter (although there's been quite a maintenance bill associated). Trek FX has proven to be a popular commuter bike around here, and I've even thought about buying a second and using it for the summer bike.

I don't have a lot of experience with gravel bikes but I've seen people say they really like them for winter cycling. So can I suggest doing a "search threads" and seeing what people have said in the recent past. And someone else will undoubtedly be replying to this post.
