I got this bad boy a couple of months ago In Florida from the original owner, and with the bill of sale he bought it in 1983 but the serial number tells me its a 1980.
I have one just like it , 1977(first year of this model). I ride it quite a bit. Like you I got it from the original owner( in 2016) and when I asked for the original paper work he just laughed. He never rode it and a few years after I got it the GS rear derailleur cage came apart so I replaced it with a NR unit and repaired the GS one for a spare. Yours is in very nice shape , enjoy!
