Over and over, pro cycling shows how indifferent it is about the wishes of its fans and, by extension, sponsors. Cav is riding very well and would be extra motivated for The Tour. He had a chance to beat E.M.'s record. What a compelling storyline to bring in more viewers. No wonder UCI pro cycling remains on life support year after year.
The schizophrenia of the revenue streams across race organizers, UCI, and teams means that the guy making the Cav / No Cav decision has very little incentive from viewership.
