I wear a helmet 99.9% of the time, because why not. I have ridden a few times when I forgot it. But, to me, it's a perfectly rational decision for an individual to decide that the danger of cycling is so minimal that helmets aren't critical. So "incredibly stupid", or even "stupid" is not a word I would use. I think it's much less intelligent, or at least equally not intelligent, to not wear eye protection of some sort when riding.

But best to have this discussion in Advocacy and Safety, and I apologize for contributing.
