Some times, I think it is better for the customer to buy the frame first and then the components with spares in mind rather than shelling out money for a complete new bike but have it assembled by their local bike tech. Having something a la carte can be a more interesting alternative quality wise than something made in big volumes .
This is my biggest fear on my Derosa, as it was built with a new Campagnolo Athena 11s many years a go, and it's still going strong. But I worry come 10 or 15 years later, and i need to replace something, I won't be able to find it, or at a reasonable price.
