Nope. I’ve seen around a half dozen bears while on tour, including a huge black at about 25” and a young cub closer than that. (Mom was nowhere to be seen.) Have never felt the need for bear spray. But I do carry 100% DEET for those pesky insects.

I actually went looking for critters when I saw the one pictured. Let out a loud “Yesss!” when he ambled out of the forest. That caused him to stop and check me out. Gave me time to get some photos. The campground host saw a lion up a different road. Third one of the year for him, and it wasn’t even July.
