The primary reason for radial spoking is a very small weight savings and an even smaller aero advantage. There is nothing light weight about you nor the 585 rims. If these are being built as durable training wheels don't mess with anything but 3x lacing. The biggest advantage to the DA hub is again weight savings. So, again, no real reason to spend that much on the hubs that are being paired to 560+gram rims.

Ultegra hubs, 585 rims, brass nipples, 14/15db spokes X3 is going to weigh in just over 2000grams for the pair. I don't remember the exact weight of mine and am on my way out the door for a ride or I would look it up.
