I dated a girl who had had hair that long, but got it cut off before we started dating. Not all of it. Just a couple feet of it. The stylist braided her hair, tied the part she was cutting off at both ends, and cut it off. My GF still had the braid. I asked to see it, but for some reason touching it really creeped me out. I didn't mind at all touching the hair still attached to her.
