Funny - my poor old boy would howl and scratch at any fully-latched door, but with the bedroom door open he would just come and curl up at our feet or in between us if he was cold. Never woke me up.
We used to have levers rather than round knobs to open the door. The cats would jump up and use their paw to pull on the lever to let themselves in.
