With sore feet I would look at how stiff the soles of your shoes are and consider getting stiffer ones (and or going to 3-pin shoes and the Shimano SP-SL pedals that provide a large base to support the sole of the shoe. Many bike shoes can be used with either 2-pin or 3-pin cleats.
If you live near an REI store you can compare your shoes to others that they sell and evaluate the stiffness of the sole.
