Oh, of no doubt things like this happen every day. We felt fairly confident being in a very busy parking lot with loads of people around but just the same, could have been bad. To be fair, any human interaction can go bad very quickly whether intentions are good or not.
edit- Would mention here that the other day my wife took our truck to the store for groceries, backed out of the parking spot and something inside the steering column broke in relation to the shifter linkage or cable. Truck fell into neutral and would not move. She is in the middle of the isle on a Saturday, people waiting for spots. Had to be at least 6 young strong physically capable men available who sat/stood by and watched my wife push our truck out of the way while jerks beeped horns at her. Your idea of chivalry is long dead and bloated.
