My wife used to work at Jockey Hollow (Continental Army camped there by Morristown, NJ). There is an apple orchard that is maintained there for historical purposes, but because it is a national park, no one is allowed to pick the apples - they all fall down and ferment on the ground. She would watch many deer come out and literally get drunk and tipsy from eating too many ground apples
