My jerseys were wool and my cleats were nailed but my pockets were in the back until I rode low racers.
My first jersey, circa 1976, was cheap, scratchy, wool and had a front pocket, maybe two, with (a) button(s). Ah, yes, a hex key for sure. If I had folding money, I tucked it up in the leg of my shorts with my house key.
