The interesting observation from yesterday is that I cannot blame the weight, as the CX bike and my Habanero both weigh in somewhere around 19-20 pounds. I am pretty sure the main reason why mine is so slow on the road is rolling resistance from CX tires. That said, I ride it so rarely I am not rushing out to buy new slick tires for it. But one of these days....
Yeah, I have ridden mine on 36mm gravel and 25mm road tires and it makes a huge difference, but it's still pretty slow, which I attribute to weight and aerodynamics.
