The snow can disappear surprisingly fast in the spring. Warm sunny days with above freezing nights most can be gone in a week. The drifts take a bit longer to go.
Mid to late March the Sun intensity alone can melt ice on the street when its around -10C. Which creates the interesting situation where road spray instantly freezes to the bike in an accumulating fashion.
I was riding in those conditions once, and, the space between the front tire and the front fender started extruding ice out to about 6" long before it fell off. I know I don't have to tell you what happens to the brakes.
