I have worked on a few pretty neat bikes in the last couple weeks. The first was a Raleigh Space rider, a 24" wheel version of the 3 speed Sport. This one had a coaster brake, 3 speed hub, and a front brake . it cleaned up nicely. The second was a 1965? AMC V11 which was built under number of different names. I repainted the black frame, cleaning and polishing the chrome fenders and front rack, and left the patina on the tank, rack, and chain guard, clear coating them. . I also swapped the old steel wheels for aluminum 26inch rims with a coaster brake and put some 1.95 " Thick Slicks on it. The last of the trio is a 1966 Schwinn American (ser. no. 7E32451) with Bendix 2 speed and coaster brake which I kept all original except for new bars , which are an exact copy of the somewhat rusty originals , and new tires. Here I cleaned everything, rubbed out the paint with rubbing compound, and clear coated with Rustoleum Automotive clear.
To be clear, the pics of the Raleigh are before I cleaned it, the AMC is a stock photo of the exact same bike minus the patina . I couldn't get the pictures of the first 2 bikes off my phone.
