in this post, here's my relatively recent '84 720 pickup, pictured as purchased. It's in the queue a ways down, so the build will take some time. I need to replace the bartape and re-position the levers a bit lower, but otherwise rideable. The wheels and RD are not original, but I do appreciate acquiring another triple pulley beauty. Seller claimed it was an '84, but I haven't had a chance to verify the SN yet.
It looks like a 1984. You don't need to check the serial number - Treks can be identified by color and decals.
Trek Bike Models/Years/Colors
I had a 1983 Trek 720, which was grey (Pewter). The last two years of the 720 were burgundy, like yours. In '85 it had gold lettering.
Of all the bikes I've ever had, that's the one I regret selling.
